Value of Being a Member

The Houston Symphony League (HSL) members are dedicated men and women willing to share their time, talents, and resources to support our Grammy award-winning Houston Symphony.  Our calling is to support the Symphony through its performances, as well as its educational and community outreach efforts.  We believe in the positive influence music has on all of humanity, especially children.

Our League members come from a variety of backgrounds within the Greater Houston community.  We share a passion for our world-class orchestra, which plays a central role in our area’s cultural and civic life.  Through our many exciting volunteer, educational, and social opportunities, lasting friendships are made. Some of the values of being a Houston Symphony League member include the below programs.

  • Educational programs in a luncheon, lecture, or informal setting, such as the B# Masterclass Luncheons and Book Club
  • Volunteering for events, such as family concerts, student concerts, musician appreciation lunches, craft activities for our junior patrons, and the ever-popular instrument petting zoo where children are shown how to play musical instruments
  • Fundraising activities to support the Symphony, such as the Musician Sponsorship, Neiman-Marcus Fashion Show, the annual Symphony Ball, Opening Night Gala, and Wine Dinner & Collector’s Auction
  • Numerous social events, including the Fall Membership Luncheon and Volunteer Fair, President’s Luncheon, Spring Membership Tea, and the annual Holiday Party
  • Social Connections are special groups formed for camaraderie, such as an annual destination trip, Wine Society, Gourmet Group, Golf, League Night Out, Games Day, and Arts and Culture
